Pendulum Magazine presents Origo Club in upcoming Cocktail Hour Event on October 26, 2019

I was invited as Areta (@foodgressing)’s plus one to a preview media event hosted by Pendulum Magazine, and have a taste of their latest project working with Origo Club.

Pendulum Magazine is a Vancouver-based international media platform in English and Chinese featuring travel, business, art, design, architecture, photography and culinary arts. If you are a sophisticated urban dweller who likes to travel around the world and is always open to the latest brilliant trends and creations around the world, this is an incredible source of information.

Origo Club offers French-inspired cuisine and wine in a stylishly chic, yet relaxed setting, Origo Club. The drinks menu at Origo Club features an exclusive list of French wines as well as Barons de Rothschild champagne, classic cocktails, imported saké and whiskeys from around the world. At every turn, Origo Club underscores its unique nature by celebrating heritage, eclipsing cultural boundaries and satiating the senses.

This event is the first of a cocktail-tasting series coming to downtown Vancouver by Pendulum, exploring the mystique and allure of the city’s nightlife through collaborations with elite bar programs of distinguished restaurants and mixologists across Greater Vancouver.

Guests will have the chance to sample a bespoke, artisanal feature cocktail – “Peculiar Fashion” – crafted by Winson Ho of Origo Club and made with the Château d’Arlay Côtes du Jura Vin Jaune, France, and Aged 15-Year Tyrconnell Single Malt Irish Whiskey.

Inspired by the classic Old Fashioned, the recipe is centered around an Aged 12-Year Whiskey and adds a twist with its highlight of the rare French “yellow wine” which is not readily accessible in Vancouver and five times the value of a regular Old Fashioned.

Each of the Cocktail Hour Series features a challenge for the mixologist to create a drink incorporating a mystery ingredient centered around the concept of heat and warmth, to combat the wintry cold. This month, the ingredient is cozy chocolate bitters.
