The 2019\u00a0 MLS season has officially started and Vancouver Whitecaps FC had their first home game on March 2nd.\u00a0 \u00a0This year the soccers fans are in a real treat for the new exciting food items offered at BC Place<\/strong><\/a>.\u00a0 I was invited\u00a0by BC Place and Centerplate<\/a>\u00a0to the season kick-off party and took a peek of the new food menu.<\/p>\n

Crafted by BC Place Executive Chef, Will Tse, the new additions on the food menu are available at all the Whitecaps FC matches and stadium events throughout the year, including BC Lions<\/strong><\/a> home games, Canada Soccer matches, and the 2019\u00a0Canada Sevens<\/a><\/strong>.<\/p>\n

The new menu features some of the creative options that can\u2019t be found at any other venue in North America, including locally-sourced fan favourites, vegan, vegetarian and gluten-free options, and\u00a0OCEANWISE<\/a>\u00a0seafood, as well as the best in class in-seat ordering technology.<\/p>\n

Let’s check out the dishes!<\/p>\n

The Beast Fries<\/strong> is the new feature of the Poutinerie<\/strong><\/em> at Sections 212 & 239, \u00a0loaded with caramelized onion, cheddar cheese, and Thousand Island dressing.<\/p>\n

As the new Lionsgate Grill<\/strong><\/em> favourite at sections: 206, 215, 228, 242 & 254, the Buffalo Chicken Tenders Burger<\/strong> is packed with Buffalo chicken tenders, lettuce, tomato, onion, jalapeno havarti, and Frank’s hot mayo.<\/p>\n

Next, the trio of Indian dishes really brings some bold flavours. The\u00a0Butter Chicken<\/strong>\u00a0is prepared with boneless chicken thighs cooked with fenugreek, garam masala, crushed tomatoes, and cream.\u00a0The\u00a0Lamb Curry<\/strong>\u00a0features tender lamb shoulder, onion, tomato, garam masala and coconut milk. The vegan option, the\u00a0Chana Masala <\/strong>is cooked with\u00a0chickpeas, red lentils, onion, tomatoes, house masala, and coconut milk.\u00a0You can find the dishes at Bombay South Asian Kitchen<\/strong><\/em> at Section 220 and in the Food Court<\/strong><\/em>.<\/p>\n

For seafood\u00a0lovers, the Crispy Shrimp Tacos<\/strong>\u00a0are filled with Oceanwise shrimps cooked in a light and crispy batter, along with green cabbage slaw, salsa verde, and pickled onion red onion. Find the tacos at Steveston\u2019s Fish & Chips<\/strong><\/em> in the Food Court.<\/p>\n

Available on May 25th for the Pride Match, the Rainbow Grilled Cheese Sandwich<\/strong>\u00a0is made with 100% mozzarella cheese,\u00a0 and can be found at Boom Kitchen!<\/strong><\/em> at Sections: 210 & 244.<\/p>\n

And we spotted the Whitecaps FC’s star defender Jake<\/a>\u00a0Nerwinski<\/a>, showing off his culinary talent by flipping those rainbow\u00a0grilled cheese sandwiches on the grill!<\/p>\n

Get ready for the ultimate food challenge, the Outrageous Burger.<\/strong> The oversized burger is prepared with 3 large house-made beef patties, a hot dog, 3 chicken strips, 6 strips of bacon, 3 slices of cheddar cheese, fries and house recipe sauce. It is available at Lionsgate Grill<\/strong><\/em> at Sections: 206, 215, 228, 242 & 254.<\/p>\n

As a great vegetarian option,\u00a0 the Fiesta Burrito Bowl<\/strong>\u00a0is filled with black beans, salsa fresca, sour cream, and marinated slaw served over cilantro-lime rice. You can make it gluten-free and vegan by skipping the sour cream. Find it at Beast on Fire<\/strong><\/em> at Sections 217 & 236.<\/p>\n

Another vegetarian classic, the\u00a0Macaroni & Cheese,\u00a0<\/strong>\u00a0is prepared with house three cheese sauce and finished with a hot Cheetos crunch. It is available at Boom Kitchen!<\/strong><\/em> at Sections: 210 & 244.<\/p>\n

For alcohol beverages, I found the Protea Chenin Blanc 2017<\/strong> from South Africa very unique, flavourful and refreshing.<\/p>\n
