I had their seafood chowder poutine almost 2 years ago. Back then I loved the concept of having the luxurious creamy seafood chowder poured all over fresh fries. But it was just too rich for me after about 4 bites. But the good flavours had been stuck in my head for all these years. Last week I was watching the re-run of an Diner, Driver, & Dive episode, in which this place was featured, it just made me want to eat it again.

So I ordered the same thing, ran back to my desk in the office, and eagerly opened the lunch container. Visually it was not appealing and it no longer wow’d me. I did not see any seafood. It took me a couple minutes to find one piece of clam, and finally realized not all the red bits in the chowder were carrot, some of them were bits of salmon. However, there were quite a few bits of meat which looked like ham or back bacon. The chowder was less rich which was not necessarily a bad thing. But the fries were really thing and a little soggy.

I noticed that quite a few people ordered the salmon burger. Hmm… Maybe they had shifted their focus to salmon burger? But still it was not nice to throw the salmon scrap bits into a chowder and charge for $10. I seriously thought this chowder would not get a customer to come back to eat this again.

Okay I actually found the picture I took 2 years ago that wow’d a lot of people on Facebook. (Please see the picture at the bottom of the page) And yes, now they didn’t even bother to put some fresh parsley anymore. After all I was disappointed.

Seafood Chowder Poutine @ Fresh Local Wild

Fresh Local Wild: Vancouver Food Truck

To see other reviews:

Their website:
http://www.freshlocalwild.com/

Seafood Chowder Poutine @ Fresh Local Wild (in 2012)

Fresh Local Wild had been at the corner of Hastings and Burrard for years.
