The\u00a0Bacchanalia Gala Dinner + Auction<\/strong>\u00a0kicked off the\u00a040th Vancouver International Wine Festival<\/strong><\/a>\u00a0on\u00a0February 24<\/strong>\u00a0at the\u00a0Fairmont Hotel Vancouver.\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n

The gala featured a sparkling wine reception,\u00a0 an five-course menu prepared by the Fairmont Hotel Vancouver\u2019s executive chef\u00a0Cameron Ballendine<\/strong>\u00a0paired with 9 exquisite wines,\u00a0 as well as live and silent auctions. The\u00a0auctions\u00a0<\/strong>raised $205,000,\u00a0<\/strong>while the sold-out raffle for two Delta One\u00a0<\/strong>International Business Class tickets, donated by\u00a0Delta Air Lines<\/strong>, raised an additional\u00a0$20,000.\u00a0<\/strong>Net proceeds from this annual fundraiser benefit charitable partner\u00a0Bard on the Beach Shakespeare Festival<\/strong><\/a>.<\/p>\n

Bacchanalia Gala Dinner Wines:<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

Net proceeds from the 2018 festival, contributed to Bard on the Beach, will be announced at VIWF\u2019s fiscal year-end and in conjunction with the opening of the Bard on the Beach season in June. The 2019<\/strong> Bacchanalia Gala<\/strong> is scheduled for\u00a0Saturday, February 23, 2019<\/span><\/span><\/em>.<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

40th Vancouver International Wine Festival<\/strong><\/h2>\n

40th edition of Canada\u2019s premier wine show has arrived and is running from\u00a0February 24 to\u00a0March 4, 2018<\/span><\/span><\/strong>. This year’s main theme is\u00a0Wines from Spain and Portugal<\/strong> but showcases 173 wineries from 15 countries (including 38 wineries from Spain and 20 from Portugal) pouring 1,450+ wines at 51 events to a projected 25,000 admissions.\u00a0The festival has been named the\u00a0#1 Food, Wine & Hospitality Event in Canada\u00a0<\/strong>by New York\u2019s BizBash for five years running.<\/span><\/p>\n

The festival is produced by the Vancouver International Wine Festival Society<\/a>, which has three mandates: provide an informative, educational and entertaining wine experience for public and trade; be a premier marketing opportunity for the wine industry and festival partners; and raise funds for the Bard on the Beach Theatre Society. Since 1979, the festival has raised $9 million for the performing arts. Major sponsors are Delta Air Lines and the Vancouver Sun; major industry partners are the BC Liquor Distribution Branch, BC Liquor Stores, Import Vintners & Spirits Association, and Tourism Vancouver. The festival is made possible through the gracious support of our participating countries\u2019 consulates and embassies.<\/span><\/p>\n
