<\/a>The Zhajiang Noodle<\/strong>, populous in China for the “Zhajiang” sauce made of minced pork and fermented soybean paste,\u00a0 was surprisingly subtle in flavour\u00a0despite the dark colour. It was okay but I was expecting some bold\u00a0flavour.<\/p>\n The following dishes were well prepared but nothing special: the Fish Thick Soup<\/strong>\u00a0(or they call it Sister Song’s Fish Soup in Chinese), the Hot and Sour Soup<\/strong>, the Stir-Fried Pea Shoots<\/strong>, and the Pan Fried Shanghai Rice Cake<\/strong>, all very common household dishes. The portion was pretty small as well. There were 10 of us, and we could get a bite or 2 from each dish overnight tramadol delivery <\/a> each.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n I liked the Yellow Crab Shell Pies<\/strong>, although they just looked like crab shell and there was no crab meat in them.\u00a0 The crunchy exterior was highlighted with nuttiness from sesame seeds.<\/p>\n The Soup Dumplings<\/strong> were also decent, meaning they have passed the basic test for being a Shanghai\u00a0style restaurant.<\/p>\n The following dishes were lackluster despite being well-known dishes. The Minced Pork with Fried Vermicelli<\/strong> (or called “Ants on Tree” in Chinese) was a very simple dish with vermicelli and minced pork mixed together. I had tried a different version and it was a much more fun with deep fried\u00a0vermicelli sizzling under the freshly pan-fried\u00a0minced pork.\u00a0 The Pan Fried Eel with Gravy<\/strong> was the most expensive dish of the evening, but it was just a gluey mess and I couldn’t taste the eel.<\/p>\n I actually like the dessert dishes the most, with Glutenous Rice Flour Dumplings in Sweet Rice Wine Broth<\/strong>. We ordered 2 types of dumplings, the small ones and the bigger ones that were filled with sesame paste and brown sugar. The sweetness was balanced nicely with the rice wine aroma.<\/p>\n The noodle and pastry dishes were decent at Long’s Noodle House, and so were the soup dumplings. As for the rest of the dishes, they were not bad but just lacked excitement.\u00a0 The place may be popular among the loyal customers who have grown attached to it, but I really don’t see the food here stand out among other places.\u00a0 Maybe my expectations were a little high.
