Thaidal Zone Restaurant Powell River
Thaidal Zone Restaurant was right by the ferry terminal in Powell River. We had been passing it by almost every year when we took the ferry to Texada. The place was always clean and bright inside. The dinner entrees were mostly over $16.95 which seemed a little expensive compared to a typical Thai restaurant in Vancouver. But they had a great selections of lunch specials for $11.50 + Tax, and they came with rice, soup, and spring roll. Most of us ordered Gaieng Daeng, a red thai curry with coconut milk dish, and the rest ordered Pad Thai. There were no fancy plating or any garnishes. The cuts of meats and vegetables were rough and inconsistent. The dishes definitely looked underwhelming, but they tasted much better than they looked. The flavours were all there. I felt like was at a Thai grandma’s house for a very humble and delicious dinner. And the portion was generous too, especially the pad thai dish.
